Strawberries are not only juicy and delicious; they are nutritious! Strawberries are especially high in antioxidants and vitamin C and are a good source of manganese.
Strawberries are the only fruit with seeds on the outside. The botanical name, Fragaria, means scent, a perfect description of their sweet scent.
While strawberries are available all year round, the most productive and juicy will be found from April to July. Berries are harvested with the cap and part of the stem left when they are fully ripe. They are not washed until they are eaten.
