Bring your breakfast to a new level with this spiced orange porridge topped with slices of zesty orange.

Porridge is a breakfast I grew up with. My mum always said it was one of the healthiest breakfasts that she could give us. That’s why I make it for my kids today, myself included. I love porridge as when it comes to toppings the sky’s the limit. You only need to look at my social media to see how many variations of porridge we eat in our house.

This porridge is zesty, creamy, warming and absolutely delicious.Porridge vs Oatmeal
I have spent my whole life thinking that porridge and oatmeal were the same thing.

Small saucepan
Wooden spoon
Pyrex measuring jug
Citrus zester

50 g Porridge oats
250 mls Milk any milk you like
50 mls Orange juice
1 tbsp Granulated sugar
¼ Ttsp Ground cinnamon
¼ tsp Vanilla extract
1 Orange

Place the 50g of oats into a saucepan then add 250mls Milk, 50mls of orange juice, 1 tablespoon of sugar, ¼ of a teaspoon of cinnamon, ¼ of a teaspoon of vanilla extract and the zest of half an orange.
Then simply bring to the boil and then let the porridge simmer for 3-4 minutes, keep stirring through the whole cooking process so that the porridge cooks evenly.
When it’s finished cooking remove from the heat and let it stand for a minute.
Peel and slice up your orange.
Grab yourself a bowl and fill with the beautiful and creamy orange spiced porridge then simply top with slices of orange. If you want to add in a bit more flavor sprinkle with a little ground cinnamon and orange zest.
Now all that’s left to do is enjoy.
