ROSE WATER, PISTACHIO, & LAYERED BERRY SMOOTHIE

Smoothies are typically a little sparse for breakfast in my opinion, but this layered smoothie is a whole other story. It resembles a cross between a parfait of yogurt and a regular smoothie. Because of the lovely layers, you pour it into a glass, but you eat it with a spoon.

Half-frozen berries combine with the creamy yogurt to create a layer that is thick and soft-serve-like. I added a splash of fragrant rose water and some pistachios for added color and crunch to give it a faint Middle Eastern flavor.

This smoothie also tastes fantastic as a snack or dessert. In my opinion, it makes the ideal morning.

INGREDIENTS

for 1 individual

2 handfuls of berries, frozen
one bunch of berries
optional rosewater spritz: honey, as desired
¾ cup (175 ml) natural yogurt
2 tablespoons of extra-chopped pistachios: stick blender

DIRECTIONS

Blend the other berries and the frozen berries together, but save a couple for garnish. You should only be able to taste the rose water after adding it, so don’t add too much. You may also add honey, if you’d like.

Place the yogurt on top of the fruit puree in a big glass.

An fantastic meal that perfectly satisfies the physiological requirements of the human body is honey. It is composed of 75 percent invert sugar, which is composed of glucose and fructose, 5 percent sucrose, 1 percent protein, 10 to 20 percent water, enzymes, and other components.
